‘T-Coeur Bleu’ is one of those songs that hit me out of nowhere, from the most surprising source. A friend who was studying in Martinique began dating an island boy who’s main passion was free-diving and spear fishing. His name was Sephas, and in 2021, news came that he went on one of his daily dives, but never came up. There was a search, and his body eventually appeared, void of life. When we first learned of Sephas, we told ourselves we would visit him in Martinique one day, and he knew the invitation was extended for him to come to Louisiana. Sharing in the common tongue of new world French, and with a mutual friend who shared with him the hopes of bringing us together on his island, or in her home state, it was bound to happen. When the news came that he had passed, it was like losing a friend I had never met. Through social media, I caught glimpses of his family memorializing him, and one of his family members would add a “blue heart” emoji when posting pictures of him. To me, the blue in the heart symbolized both the sadness in losing such a bright character, as well as the blue of the ocean, his love and his loss. When I saw the blue heart emoji, a song came over me, and I immediately started writing it, the words flowing straight onto the paper, and music straight onto the guitar. When I finally got the whole thing down, within a matter of hours, it took me multiple takes to demo it, because it made me cry so hard I could barely get thru the second verse. To mourn so deep for someone I had never met, he must have been more special than we could imagine.
lyrics
Ca c’est le moment
Tu peut pas comprends
Nager dans le font
De mes memoires
Je t’ai jamais vu
Mais j’vouler avant
Avant t’est mort
Dans les bras de ta Maman
T’etait plus content
Bercer dans la mer
Comme l’enfant triton
La vie desous les ondes
Coté les poissons
T’es mon T Coeur Bleu
T’es mon T Coeur Bleu
T’es mon T Coeur Bleu
T’es mon T Coeur Bleu
Rentre dans la facion
Que tu n’a pas honte
Arrete dans le passé
Jongle a les moments
J’ai essayer te suivre
Mais t’aller trop profound
Pour ton T Coeur Bleu
T’arreté de me regarder
T’arreté de m’écouter
T’as lancer et darder
Un harpoon pointu
Dans mon T Coeur Bleu
Dans mon T Coeur Bleu
Dans mon T Coeur Bleu
Dans mon T Coeur Bleu
J’ai guetter pour la lumiere
Dans la miroir
Reflection dans la mer
Chercher pour ton visage
Arrete pas de chercher
Chercher dans le noir
Pour mon T Coeur Bleu
Pour mon T Coeur Bleu
Pour mon T Coeur Bleu
Pour mon T Coeur Bleu
ENGLISH
It was that moment
You can’t understand
Swimming in the depths
Of my memories
I never got to meet you
But I wanted to before
Before you were dead
In your Mother’s arms
You were happier
Cradled in the Sea
Like a child of Triton
Life under the waves
On the side of the fishes
You’re my T Coeur Bleu
You went in so sure
Not a bit shy
Stop In the past
Think of the moments
I tried to follow you
But you went too deep
For your T Coeur Bleu
You stopped looking at me
You stopped listening to me
You threw and stuck
A pointed spear
In my T Coeur Bleu
I looked for the light
Inside the mirror
Reflection in the sea
Searching for your face
I’ll never stop looking
In the dark
For my T Coeur Bleu

The is the real electric hoodoo here. I am of the belief that you can't make make this music proper unless you're raised up in all the tradition. This is all the way right! veenstar
